Henley Joins Celebrity Classic

Macon Volunteer Clinic was invited to join professional athletes, famous musicians, civic leaders and local non-profits last September to participate as a benefactor in the Five Star Kevin Brown Russell Henley Celebrity Classic. The two-day event featured a sporting clay competition, golf tournament and an exciting auction.

The Five Star Celebrity Classic was started in 1989 by former professional tennis player Jaime Kaplan as a 3-day tennis pro-celebrity tournament. While on the WTA Tour, Jaime met several actors and pro athletes who expressed interest in participating in the benefit event. Famous players in the inaugural tournament included Franco Harris, Hank Aaron, Tony O’ Dell, Shirley Hemphill and Lyle Waggoner.

Professional golfer Russell Henley and his fiancé, Teil Duncan, stepped up to the tee bringing many friends, athletes, and musicians to add their support and participation. Russell Henley is the son of MVC founders Dr. Chapin and Sally Henley and was happy to lend his support to a good cause. Congratulations to Russell and Teil, who recently celebrated their marriage.
