Mercer University Pre-Med students are energetic young people who add enthusiasm to Macon Volunteer Clinic every time they volunteer! Students help at the front desk during clinic and screening hours, as well as in the dispensary and ‘charting’ for Dr. Ulrich. Students first complete a one-hour orientation class where they learn about MVC’s history, mission and organization. In addition, they receive a tour of the clinic and sign up for a training session. Volunteering in an administrative role at the clinic teaches these aspiring young physicians what is involved ‘behind the scenes’ in a medical office.

Mercer University School of Medicine students have a unique opportunity at MVC – MUSM holds a supervised student-run clinic every sixth Saturday in which students gain patient experience in a clinic setting. In addition, Medical Director Dr. Lynn Denny serves as Volunteer Assistant Professor of Family Medicine at MUSM and supervises 4^th year medical students who intern at the clinic.

Medical Volunteers

Macon Volunteer Clinic serves our patients through the generosity of volunteer physicians, nurses, phlebotomists, pharmacists, x-ray technicians, dieticians, and other medical and dental volunteers.  If you are a medical professional interested in volunteering at the Clinic, please contact the Volunteer Coordinator at mvcvolunteers@cox.net.

Hours for medical volunteers are:

• Monday 1 – 4 pm                Dental
• Monday 5 – 7 pm                Medical
• Tuesday 5 – 8 pm               Medical
• Wednesday 9 – 12 noon      Medical
• Thursday 9 – 12 noon         Medical

Administrative Volunteers

Macon Volunteer Clinic appreciates volunteers who fill a critical need during clinic and screening hours by serving as front desk receptionists and working in the dispensary.  We could not operate without these important volunteers. Volunteers may also choose to assist with fundraisers and special projects.  If you are interested in volunteering at the Clinic, please contact the Volunteer Coordinator at mvcvolunteers@cox.net.
